Find out here about the people and faces behind Sugarbeat...
In addition to being part of the Sugarbeat team Mooqee is also the driving force behind infamous label Bombstrikes. Truly a Global name he is always un-missable and we think it is impossible not to shake what your mamma gave ya whilst this man is playing.
His earl y productions are credited with helping to define the highly acclaimed Bombstrikes sound and through his direction and follow up productions Mooqee has been instrumental in ensuring not only that the label continues to move forward but he also helped create the thriving Nu-Funk or Funky Breaks scene we have today. The same energy and quality crosses over into his DJ shows. Which, combined with the label’s success, has helped him rapidly establish himself as the one of the scenes big players.
With a successful Australian tour and countless shows across Europe the last 12 months has seen him gather some real momentum and things don’t look to be slowing down just yet with a return to Australia and a North American Tour plus more of the acclaimed ‘Bombstrikes presents’ nights in the pipeline. Whether he is rocking crowds at London Superclub Fabric or at huge outdoor events such as Germany’s Fusion he is constantly full of surprises and armed to the teeth with his own edits and remixes to ensure the party goes off.
Being a woman in a 'mans' world was never going to be easy, but not one to let a little thing like that hold her back, Toni fought tooth nail and claw, to make it to where she is now. With her roots in music and fashion, she stylishly sliced through the musical clones, and drones, with her own unique, choppy, chunky and wonderfully wonky style, leaving dance floor devastation in her wake.
Her ever-energetic sets are a sight to behold, as she unleashes her bag full of monsters. A whirlwind behind the decks, there's never a dull moment, as she whisks the crowd into an almighty fever with lashings of broken beats, laced with awesome electro licks; you'll prickle with delight.
Succeeding in standing out from the crowd she’s secured a long-standing residency with us here at Sugarbeat Club holding here own to say the least. She's played alongside a whole host of big guns, including Paul Oakenfold, M.A.N.D.Y, Plump DJs, Krafty Kuts, Stanton Warriors, Freestylers & the Scratch Perverts to name but a few, at clubs, super clubs, and festivals, across the globe, including the infamous Ministry of Sound and the massive Gatecrasher Summer Sound System.
Stepping it up a level she shifted effortlessly onto the flipside, entering the expansive world of music production. Her first release a remix of a Mark Knight track saw a full release on Toolroom Records that smashed it on Beatport. And there's more where that came from, with a release to follow on the exciting new Sugarbeat label!
Having sold over 2 million records to date, recorded with the likes of REM’s Michael Stipe, and performed with U2 and others on mega-stadium tours, Utah Saints remain one of the most trail-blazing outfits within electronic music. Following a self-imposed exile, Tim Garbutt and Jez Willis buried the Utah Saints name in the early Noughties (following unreleased albums and contract oblivion), vowing to return under that guise when the time was right. In the meantime they've produced and remixed under their Beatvandals moniker, DJed all over the world, and run the highly successful club night, Sugarbeat, in both England and Scotland.
Something Good 08' was one of the biggest dance records of 2008. It was a staple tune for the likes of Zane Lowe and Pete Tong, who’ve made it a Hottest Record In The World and Essential New Tune respectively.
With new material to come very soon in 2010 and the launch of the Sugarbeat label, things are looking good…Watch this Space.
